Before any massage treatment avoid large meals or alcohol, and particularly in the case of a Relaxing Massage try to give yourself plenty of time either side of the treatment so you don’t have to rush for anything.
On arrival I will set up the treatment room supplied and go through a Confidential Client Registration Form, this is to gain your permission to treat you and to learn as much as possible about your complaint and history so that I can treat you as efficiently as possible. Next I will go through any examination procedures that are required and explain what will happen during the treatment. Depending on the specific nature of your complaint you may be required to undress, towels need to be provided and you will be covered at all times except for the particular area I am treating. The oil I use is made from Grapeseed, however if you have any reactions to oils please let me know in advance and other modalities can be used instead. You can also use your own oils if supplied.
Are you preparing for surgery or have recently undergone a procedure? You might be wondering how lymphatic drainage massage can help in your recovery. This gentle, therapeutic technique helps stimulate the lymphatic system, promoting healing and reducing swelling.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a specialized technique designed to enhance lymphatic flow, which helps remove toxins and excess fluids from the body. By applying light pressure and gentle rhythmic movements, this massage encourages the lymphatic system to function optimally, leading to a range of health benefits.
Reduces Swelling: A pre-surgery lymphatic massage can help reduce existing swelling and prepare the body for surgery. This can lead to a smoother surgical experience and potentially quicker recovery.
Boosts Immunity: By stimulating lymphatic circulation, this massage can enhance your immune response, helping your body fight off potential infections that may arise post-surgery.
Promotes Relaxation: The gentle nature of lymphatic massage helps alleviate anxiety and promotes relaxation, which is beneficial for anyone preparing for a surgical procedure.
Speeds Up Recovery: Post-surgery lymphatic massage helps reduce swelling and inflammation, promoting faster healing. By improving circulation, it can also help deliver nutrients and oxygen to the surgical site.
Pain Relief: Many patients report decreased pain and discomfort after receiving post-surgery lymphatic drainage massage. This can be attributed to reduced swelling and improved circulation.
Scarring Prevention: Gentle manipulation of the tissue can help minimize the appearance of scars, promoting a speedier healing process.
Reduce risk of fibrosis: Lymphatic massage moves fluids and reduces inflammation and thus reduces the risk of fibrosis (hardened tissue) forming
Detoxification: After surgery, the body may have accumulated toxins and waste products. Lymphatic massage assists in flushing these out, aiding in your overall recovery.
For those who cannot lie flat, a specialised massage chair is used for back, neck and shoulder treatments.
Unlike a Sports or Remedial Massage, a Relaxation Massage is a whole body experience designed solely for the purpose of rest and relaxation and is not designed for dealing with any injuries, chronic aches or pains. It uses a softer, gentle, more superficial approach which purely sets out to relax and soothe the patient. Deep tissue massage techniques will not be used during this treatment – just light to medium pressure using only the hands in order to promote a feeling of relaxation, comfort and well being. Facial and scalp massages can be effectively incorporated into this area to help relieve stress and tension. Soft music will be available to help you relax, or alternatively if you would like to use your own you are very welcome to do so.
This highly popular deeper massage uses techniques applied to all muscle groups to help ease intense pain as well as knead out any knots that may be causing you discomfort. The aim of this massage is also primarily relaxation, however firmer pressure is applied. This massage focuses on different layers of your muscle and tendon tissue and helps to loosen you up and relieve any strain you may be feeling caused by knots and pulls in your muscles.
Pregnancy massage is specifically tailored for the expectant mother’s needs. It is also called pre-natal massage. The mother’s body must be properly positioned and supported during the massage, using pillows and padding. Proper positioning ensures comfort and safety for the mother and baby. Massage in pregnancy can help with inflammation, sciatic pain, leg cramps, upper and lower back pain. Treatment is available after the first trimester.
Sports Massage has both physiological and psychological benefits and is used by professional and amateur athletes as well as non sporting individuals. It is a deep tissue massage that improves the conditions of the muscles by, amongst other things, increasing the circulation which helps to flush out toxins and eliminate waste products, alleviates muscle aches especially the DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), increases joint mobility, aids recovery after illness or injury and helps to prevent injury by keeping muscles flexible and agile. This type of massage should be view as a medical massage to help alleviate aches and pains, promote recovery from injury or posture based problems and is not a spa relaxing massage.
Regular sports massage can help to extend the life of your sporting career by keeping your muscles healthy and preventing tears and other injuries. During a Sports Massage the muscle and fascia tissues are stretched using a variety of techniques enabling the blood to circulate more efficiently through the tissues. These methods release tension, pressure build up, waste products and allow better oxygen take up by increasing the tissues permeability. Sports Massage also has a beneficial effect on scar tissue and adhesions by breaking them down using friction movements, allowing more flexibility in the tissues and therefore reducing the risk of more injuries or pain.
Although Sports Massage is generally a deeper tissue treatment than other types of massage it is important to remember that it can be a little uncomfortable but is not meant to hurt. If too much pressure is applied then the muscle tissues merely tighten up against the therapist causing soreness and pain. Some techniques used are effective for releasing trigger points or breaking down scar tissues but these are done in conjunction with the patient’s pain threshold and comfort and not against it.
Examples of conditions that can benefit from Sports Massage include:
Massage techniques are becoming more popular, and have been shown to help encourage a return of function to the affected area.
Massage therapy can help to break down scar tissue, improve blood flow and concurrently improve lymphatic circulation, which helps to remove the waste tissue efficiently.
A leg massage can relieve sore, tired muscles. The benefits vary depending on how much pressure you apply.
Using light pressure can be more relaxing. Strong pressure reduces tension and pain in your muscles.
The massage don’t only work on the nerves but also work on the whole surrounding area to get the best results.
Tight muscles in your lower back and core can put pressure on your sciatic nerve. Tight muscles can also result in small, painful adhesions (often referred to as knots) which causes trigger point pain, causing more stress to the area.
For people suffering from tendonitis, it can help with pain relief and speed up the recovery process. Since tendonitis can take weeks to heal, using a massage therapy program to both relax and strengthen the inflamed tendon can give the sufferer a better chance of a full and speedy recovery
Massage therapy can help to loosen up tight muscles and provide relief from any pain you might feel.
Massage also triggers the release of endorphins. Endorphins are feel-good chemicals that can help alleviate pain
Sports massage allows injured tissues such as muscles, tendons and ligaments to heal quicker and in the right way.
It helps manage scar tissue and increases flexibility so that you don’t lose mobility while you’re injured.
The fascia can become stiff and sore through overuse, and muscle aches and pains are a classic part of exercise.
Through manipulation and tension release, a sports massage can help to reduce pain, especially if caused by inflammation. It’s believed that sports massage boosts circulation and this speeds up healing.
Massage release and reduce tension in muscles, improve circulation and encourage the removal of waste products such as lactic acid during high intensity activity and can help to relax the body.
All of this helps promote recovery and reduces the chance of muscle injury.
After care advice will be given following the treatment. Because of the nature of the treatment patients can feel calmer and more relaxed following massage. You may feel dehydrated, thirsty, experience headaches, have frequent urination, be a little sleepy – this is commonly known as The Healing Crisis and are all very natural responses, it is the body’s way of flushing out the toxins. Muscles may feel stiff or a little achy the following day this is because they have been gently stretched during the treatment to release the tension and waste products. It is advised that you drink lots of water to help dilute and flush the toxins out of your system, rest and relax to help the body to heal. Eat small meals as the body’s energy needs to be used to regenerate the body tissues instead of being used to digest large amounts of food; avoid caffeine and direct strong sunlight until you have been able to wash the oils off.
An amazing massage, from the comfort of my own home! It was my first experience of having a massage, but Jamie is so lovely and made me feel at ease right away, and gave very helpful advice for how to deal with my migraines! I have a lot of tension in my neck and shoulders, and I felt miles better after the session. Thank you so much, and I will definitely be booking in for another!
Jamie came to the rescue when I had been really struggling with possible sciatica pain during pregnancy. I opted for a full body massage as a treat and wow it was amazing. Professional friendly service! She has got out all tension I was holding and had lots of advice!
Can’t wait to go back!

I would highly recommend Jamie @ East Devon Mobile Massage. Very friendly with an amazing massage in the comfort of your own home and at a great price too. I’ve already booked my next massage. Get booked in, you won’t regret it
Love my fortnightly relaxation sessions with Jamie. The regular massages are a bit of me time, and help with circulation and muscle pains. Highly recommended! And the best bit is, I only have to get myself to the sofa when it’s over, no driving home!
I can’t recommend this lady highly enough, I’ve pulled my back numerous times and had to pay hundreds to a chiro to help fix it. last minute plea for help and she was here three days later and I now have much more freedom of movement and also a plan to research bits for myself using her knowledge and training to help prevent the same thing happening again. best money I’ve spent on myself in a long while. certainly going to rebook and surprised theres only 12 reviews and currently 300 odd likes of the page as I want to shout from the hill tops about how fantastic this service was.
Would 100% recommend, Jamie makes you feel at ease and I feel so much better for my massage. Thank you!!
Booked a massage for my mum as she has suffered with back pain for most of her life. About a week ago it got really bad and my mum was nearly in tears and could hardly move. I messaged Jamie and we got booked in straight away at short notice. After the massage my mum noticed a huge improvement and was able to move much more freely and it relieved the severe pain. Jamie is very punctual and makes people feel very at ease. The main thing is that she is very good at her profession and knows exactly what she is doing. I can’t recommend Jamie enough. Thank you so much
Jamie gave me a lovely back massage, she gave me loads of helpful advice on how to take care of my back.
I would highly recommend Jamie, my full body massage was very good and left me feeling very relaxed and she’s mobile….winning!
I recently had a massage with Jamie in the comfort of my own home. It was amazing and so relaxing. Due to being in my third trimester of pregnancy I’ve not been sleeping. I slept so well that night. I’m definitely going to be booking in again very soon. I’d highly recommend to anyone. Thanks Jamie xx

Lovely massage in the comfort of my own home. Super relaxing, Jamie was professional, friendly and lovely all at the same time.
Absolute bliss! My neck and shoulders have been stiff and painful for years, and after only one session with Jamie, I loosened up considerably. She did a seated massage as I felt I wouldn’t be able to lie down for the procedure. After soft music, lovely oils and Jamie’s skilled massage techniques, I feel so much better. I will definitely rebook with her!
